Appropriately maintaining a worksite plays a large role in preserving a safe work environment. In many cases, a workplace injury accident may have been avoided altogether had a proper protocol and appropriate follow-up been adhered to. Most Essex County industries are very aware of steps they need to take in order to avoid injury, and when those things are neglected problems arise.
Unfortunately, even injuries that don’t lead to disability or catastrophic results can leave an individual without the physical ability to work for an extended period of time. Add lost wages on top of an ever increasing pile of medical debt and an avoidable accident can put your finances in a tailspin.
A deckhand is suing to recover an undisclosed amount of money due to an injury that he claims he suffered while at work. According to the lawsuit, the man was on a crane barge when he stumbled on a pipe and fell, damaging his back and shoulder. The worker claims that he asked for the property to be maintained, though it never was prior to his accident. Presumably, if maintenance had been done on the property, the worker would likely never have been injured in the first place.
Negligence in the workplace comes in many forms and always has the possibility of causing bodily injury. If you have fallen victim to unsafe working conditions in Massachusetts, speaking with a workers’ compensation attorney can help you recognize your rights and understand the steps that you can take to possibly receive compensation.
