Drivers in Essex County, Massachusetts have the responsibility of ensuring that their vehicles are properly maintained and safe to be on the road. This is the purpose of the state safety inspection that is required to register your vehicle. However, drivers should be aware that they need to have their vehicles in good repair at all times, not just when they are going to have them inspected. Things like cracked windshields, broken taillights or a missing lug nut on a wheel might not seem like a big deal, but they can lead to problems on the road if not taken care of in a timely manner.
A car that lost one of its wheels is being blamed for an accident that involved three vehicles in Russell, Massachusetts recently. The car was traveling on Route 20 around noon when it was trying to pass another vehicle. The wheel apparently came off the passing vehicle, and the car crashed into another automobile traveling in the opposite direction.
Three people were injured in the car accident, although the exact nature of their injuries is not known. One was transported to Noble hospital, the other two were taken to Baystate Medical Center. Those injured are all believed to be adults.
Although authorities are still investigating the accident, and citations may be forthcoming, those injured in the accident may wish to consult with a personal injury attorney. Doing so may be able to help those involved receive compensation for their pain and suffering and medical expenses and ensure that their rights are protected.
